Eve,
Eve in the leaves
and trees near the lake,
Where her curious eyes
caught her reflection’s own
when she learned what was
...forbidden.
How her breath heated
when she saw
the moon in her chest
and the rubies in her brow.
The water showed her
the long locks of love
that poured from her head
and she felt her own rhythm in the current, taking a bite of fruit
and feeling the flow in her palms
as she defied the gravity of God.
Still she sat near the water,
savoring the sweet juice
pouring from her lips,
and she was satisfied.
There was no serpent
nor man in creation
that could lead her toward desire,
for she took her own hand
in her reflection and gained knowledge;
a love she'd never known.
