Kamikaze Love- Poem

cburrow030791

If I see the sun rise

when you smile,

I must be Icarus

whose enamored heart

has taken flight

on a kamikaze course.

Untouchable,

You would seem

to someone like me.

Like a rare artifact

in a prestigious museum

whose beauty belongs

on the other side

of the world

and not to me.

You were sculpted

by the angels and sent

to remind us---

that we aren’t worthy.

And though you lift me to the sky,

and though you never say it,

I get the angels’ message.
