Bipolar- Poem

It was a rush! a malicious jolt

that severed my tether to Hope.

An exhaustive pendulum swing

-between infectious joy-

-and loathsome despair-

that leaves the mind broken

and the soul withered

when the mechanism stops

on the wrong side.

The wonder of darkness isn’t

to be wandered for very long,

for the luster of happiness

is what beats through our hearts.

Yet here I am, --------I am here,

wading in other-worldly doom,

hoping to see Hope’s first rays,

holding my heart until it can

beat again.
